That is basically how my Appy changes color every year too! She started out bright as a copper penny when she was born with a lovely white blanket and is now almost as white as your Journey.
It's amazing the color changes a horse can go through. I thought our brand inspector was crazy when he told me I had a "blue roan pinto"; as a baby she had huge black and white spots. He explained that she was really a gray and would be pure white when fully mature. He nailed it; at 13 she is a really pretty white horse! Bionic Cowgirl
