This was my first LD on Puddin' (Aidrian)...she was eighteen.  This mare had such drive and heart...sight in one eye.  My heart horse.   She rocked this ride at Corydon.  We rode with two other riders.  One was pulled.  Puddin' kept the second horse going as he was a follower, not a leader.  He kept her going as it was a new trail and she needed a buddy.  We waited back in the vet line for our ride partner to pulse down first.  It was fair.  Lynn helped us through that first ride.  Puddin' though was top-ten to me...winner for me....the best of the best in horses.  I miss her, my princess horse.

Phebes first LD.  A trained hard for ALL WINTER entry into LD.  Riding with experienced endurance riders.  Ride number one was a metabolic disaster for her.  A devastation for me.  The hard work would begin to rehab my horse, and start over.

Another winter, keeping my girl fit.  Riding conservatively to a great finish.  No hot shoes that day put us into the top ten with a five hour + finish.

We got lost....I was met at the ride by my husband who told me my daughter was in the hospital.  We rider optioned.  Phebes was too torqued, and I had real life to deal with.

We finished 2010 with pretty solid back to back 30 mile rides.  She finished strong and full of herself.

Ride two we finished further back in the pack.  Her muscle tone was a B and I began to worry about the old muscle  issue...but everything seemed okay.  But it wasn't.   Her next training ride she had a tye-up.  So we sat out 2011.  With a record of more sitting out than riding I really had to evaluate if this sport is appropriate for this horse, and for now the answer is NO.  It is not.  Maybe after a year or two we will attempt.  Maybe not.

Looking onward to another slow start...2012?  On JR SPIRIT JOURNEY
