Road work tonight.

The only thing that could describe it is a VERY BAD WORD and I try to keep my blog rated no worse than PG. That would sum it up. ~E.G.

  1. Oh no. You didn't come off, did you? Or was she just not having it.

  2. No I hung with the roll backs, spin into the middle of the road, fall into a ditch...IT WAS JUST AWFUL. Ordinarily she will move off of my leg, and she just was mentally checked out and doing her own thing. It got to the point that I had to dismount every time I saw a vehicle because I had no confidence that she wouldn't jump out in front of the vehicle. Instead of respecting my leg saying stay one the side, stay on the side, she'd whip her hind end right out into the center of the road. I wanted to just kill her and be done with it, but that meant walking three and half miles back, and I'd already pretty much walked that far out.

Over a thousand miles on this horse, when does brain set in?

    Yes, I'm in a "snit".

  3. Not sure if it is encouraging or not, but every ride you have been on with me Phebes was MUCH better than Doc was at her age. I don't think Doc's brains really came in until he was about 10. He was at his worst when he was 5 and got better every year after that.

  4. Will your husband ride down the road with you? Maybe Phebe just needs another horse to go along with her a few times to boost her confidence.

  5. Michelle,

Doug's horse has health problems. He rides him once in a great while, but the horse is insulin resistant, and has recurring laminitic issues, and pretty bad arthritis (especially winter time). He takes him on our back trails and Cree "watches" while Phebes does laps. He may actually be a bigger chicken than Phebes...
