TGIF & a question about Easyboot Fit

Oh my gosh! So glad it is Friday. Another long and late day so still no horse time. My schedule changes next week so I will be working Tues, Wed, and Thurs, then I'll have four days off in a row, so hoping that change will allow me some ride time.

Tried one of the new boots on Phebes. It was a little tough getting it on and getting it off was really rough! I only had enough daylight to try the left front. Still have to check the right front for fit. Phebes trotted along with the boot and didn't seem bothered by it.

It looked like the boot was seated, but I'm not sure how I can tell if the heel was all the way down into the boot? The fit is so snug that there is no room to wiggle a finger in to check.

If the boots are a little too snug can the heel strap be cut out? Or will this jeapordize keeping the boots on?

I'm not sure that these boots are pre-2005 because they have the horse logo on the boot. I was thinking pre-2005's did not have the horse logo on each boot?

Off and running to a meeting in Nashville (Indiana) today. Corporate lectures, oh goody! ~E.G.

  1. I PERSONALLY believe it should be hard to get it on and off. That's what I've always had. Jazz's boots are hard to get on and off. But they have never come off her. She over-reaches when she gets into a power trot but she spreads her back legs out so they go on the outside of her fronts legs, and don't hit. It's really pretty smart. And she can fly along at a trot faster than any amish buggy horse I've seen! Believe me I know because I grew up in Amish country (north-eastern IN near Shipshewana)

You can cut out the heel strap. But I wouldn't. I had one pre 2005 easyboot size 0 (don't get excited - I lost it at spook run) that caused her heel to bleed a little the first time I used it on her. I learned that the heel straps are a little higher on the older ones. So I took an exacto knife and cut it down. Then it worked just fine. I wanted to cut down the new ones but didn't becuase they were far enough down that they didn't bother her.

Are you guys riding tomorrow moring? I will be riding at the farm with Allen. We will probably go down the gravel roads so I can try out my Renegades.
