One of the scariest scenarios on horseback has to be getting X number of miles out only to realize you are caught in a lightening storm. It was rumbling a little when I saddled up this afternoon, but the sky behind me was blue, and the gray thunderheads were to the east of me so I figured "no worries" it is all past us... At least until lightening started streaking into the trees and we were already a few miles out...and the creek had turned to muddy water, meaning heavy rains upstream. Journey was not impressed, NOR I. We managed to make it home safely, though don't let me kid you I was talking to the man upstairs.
