They aren't going to dig it out

Journey's vet spoke with me this morning and she wants to leave it alone unless she develops some kind of issue, as digging around will actually cause more trauma than the small pellet would.  On the other hand, if it looks angry, inflamed, starts draining gunk, I'll have to go in and have it opened and the thing removed.  But for now she is satisfied with just keeping it clean and dry and letting nature take its course.

I wish I had power in the barn to set up a camera out in the front. Though if the person was in our woods next to the road though, you'd never see them.  People sometimes make me really sad.  They hurt each other, and shoot at animals for entertainment.  It is disheartening to say the least!

  1. That sounds good, I hope it heals up quick and clean. That is something I worry about, nuts with guns.

  2. I just found out earlier this year when my cat had to have x-rays that someone shot Goose with a pellet gun at some point in the past. He has one pellet in each hind leg. I have no idea when it happened and can't believe that my husband and I didn't notice when it did. But the vet said the wounds can be small and pretty clean and Goose is a big fluffy haired cat so it probably hid the wounds. The vet said since the pellets were not interfering with anything to just leave them. She did not recommend having the removed. They don't seem to bother him. But I still hate that someone did that to my cat!

  4. Jacke, I hope it heals over easily and doesn't cause Journey any more pain. I guess it can just heal over.

I'm trying to think of other things you can do to catch the person- maybe you can rig a camera some way. I wonder if pellet guns have to be registered? Did the sheriff say if other animals have been shot with pellets, and if they have any suspects? I wish I could think of something helpful for you.

  5. Oh, I'm so sorry EG! Glad it's not worse than it is. I'd be livid if something like that happened...
