Resolutions & Such

I honestly have not had time to contemplate.  Since Thursday I've been at the bedside of someone I love very much in the ICU.  Open heart surgery, bypass, valve replacement.  So not a resolution, more a hope, and a prayer that when I get there tomorrow she will no longer be breathing by machine, and she will open her beautiful blue eyes and be mad as heck!  That is my wish, and I don't care about much else, because in context, none is as important as the person you call Mom.  If you have some prayers to spare, send them to the Kentuckiana Medical Center here in Indiana.   Jacke

  3. What's her name? I'll add it to the prayer chain lists! Meanwhile, you are in our thoughts--be well, and be better!

  4. Jacke, So sorry to hear about your mom! My prayers are with her and you. My mother went through the same procedures, and it is so tough to see your mom go through it. I understand. I wish for you strong inner peace.

  5. Well she's off the ventilator, breathing on her own. Stomach tube is out, one groin cath is out. She still has an IV line in her neck "just in case" and another in her groin. She has about two feet of staples between her chest and along her inner knee and thigh where they robbed a blood vessel for the bypass. What a way to ring in the New Year! She was propped up in her bed when I left today. Speech is very sluggish, but she knows everybody. Will just need to get her legs back under her, and some food in...last time she ate was last Sunday I think. Things could still go wrong, but for the most part the trend is very favorable at this point.

  6. Jacke, So glad to hear that your mom is off the ventilator- that's such a tough part of post-surgery. And recovery is slow after open heart surgery, and it looks terrible to us the family, but they do recover. If it's any consolation, my mom did recover fine from it, but it was slow. All my prayers and thoughts to you and your sweet mother....
