The Cave Country Canter has been canceled
Just a quick FYI in case you had plans....and camping reservations....like me . It seems they thought it would interfere somehow with WEG games being held in Kentucky.

Sheeze!! I thought that months ago! I knew I was not going to be able to go to Cave Country Canter because of the WEG. Maybe they will move it back to November like it normally is.
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to going to the WEG this year!!!

There is that CTR in IN coming up in a couple weeks. I really think you both could do it since it's short and easy.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you are looking for a good ride in September there is always Big South Fork in Tenn. It is not that far. Less than four hours from NKY, where I used to live. I rode the LD in 2005. Good ride management, nice trails, not too difficult, not as hard as Clark in my opinion. It's turned into a pretty big ride since I've been there. Would be a nice vacation.
I'd like to try to get Shazam ready for a 100 there, maybe 2011 or more likely by 2012. But we will get there - soon.

Oh, and if you don't understand how it will interefere, let me tell you. Most of the Volunteers for the WEG endurance portion are Daniel Boone Distance members. The WEG Endurance competition is the 26th of Setpember--one week after Cave Country Canter. Like eventing, I'm sure they have at least a couple meetings scheduled before hand for practices for the volunteers. Usually about a week before the event. So I can imagine they will be busy the weekend before the big event. Not to mention that a lot of members may be helping riders prepare and/or crewing for them. I'm sure they will need to be close, if not on premisis by the week before the big day.
ReplyDeleteI'm just going to go and watch, after church.

Michelle,
ReplyDeletePhebes would never meet the pulse criteria for a CTR. You have ten minutes to get down to 60 I think. She will spike above well above 60 if someone so much as walks by her. I've done the CTR at Salamonie before, missed first place by one half point riding Phebes mommy. Phebes doesn't rate well enough for the timing of a CTR. You have to hit a time window with CRT. Calm and steady she goes to be successful.
