Phebes little running walk....
I'm floored. Did some research on her sire line and we have both Saddlebred and Tennessee Walker up pretty close. Her doing that little gait at the walk always mystified me, but I guess this explains it. At least a few gaited horses in her sire's pedigree. The Master Key, Delight of Pride, Pride of Midnight. No way of telling if there was gaited in Saddlebred line. Phebes didn't quit growing until she was seven. She is a good solid 15 hands now. Looking foward to more work with her come spring.

cool, i've been dying to know phebe's history that would explain her coloring. so is she 75% arabian? did you see my post about my 78% "pinto" arabian? http://horsecrazyamerican.blogspot.de/2013/12/maras-parentage.html
ReplyDeleteI'd say at least 75% with the rest equally split between TWH and Saddlebred. I was aware of the Saddlebred, but was really floored over the TWH, but it certainly cleared up the little gait thing she sometimes does. It's some kind of running walk as she really motors when she does it, but smooth...........
ReplyDeleteI'll check out your link!
