Back up, back up, back up back up.

Horse is standing still.

Approach and retreat until she gets a taste: This time Vitamin B Water which is my drink of choice on the trail. Kind of fruit punch taste, low sugar, with some vitamin B.

Lick slobber, lick slobber.

Hmmmmmm....this tastes pretty good......two syringes, pet the horse, release the horse, trudge through the snow. Lay on the bed until I am breathing normal again.

That was harder than walking 4 miles.

  1. Something else to add to your repertoire that I've had good luck with on the notoriously syringed-paranoid pony is blue agave syrup. It's one of the lowest-gylcemic sweeteners out there, and it's veryconcentratwed, so it does a good job of blocking the salt taste. And horses seem to love it!

  2. Never heard of blue agave but I'll keep that in mind. Suppose I'll repeat the syringe activity again today sometime. We have to get it so she's ho----hum about it before April. ~E.G.

  4. Your persistence will pay off. Phoebes is a smart girl. If she thinks you are going to out persist her and you are not doing anything to hurt her, she will figure out that it is easier just to get the yummy vitamin water or whatever else you put in there, than to fuss. :-)
