Points go to the rider.
...So horses earn miles.

Points go to the rider.

So for a rider to be in contention for a regional award you have to race for points? vs. miles?

Then a horse carrying a heavy weight rider for an LD mileage award is considered on the same level playing field as a horse carry a featherweight?
(not complaining here just trying to get it all straight in my head). All Who Wanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15811193190492037859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2920971397380941204.post-17713284576768817852010-06-19T13:00:53.765-04:002010-06-19T13:00:53.765-04:00you asked:

If you move up from LD to endurance do your miles go with you, or do you lose credit for all those LD miles?

The miles remain in the LD catagory.

For example, I've accumulated 420 LD miles. Whenever I (finally) hit 500 miles, they'll send me a patch. Might be this year, might be 10 years from now. LD miles are accounted separately from "endurance" miles (from events 50+ miles).

Likewise, "horse" miles stay with the horse. I borrowed my friend David's gelding Laser for an LD ride back in 2003. Laser and I get credit for those miles, David doesn't get anything except my thanks for the loan of his horse. Fiddle has done 55 LD miles. When SHE hits 500, SHE gets a patch. (She would rather have a cookie).

Weight divisions don't count for the horse, just for the rider.

Regional points go to the rider, not the horse.

Make sense?AareneXhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17569818745110332355noreply@blogger.com
